Building Evacuation Plan

In an emergency you will be notified via the Emergency Intercom System when it is recommended that you evacuate the building. Depending on the size of the fire emergency, a partial or full building evacuation may be necessary. This will be determined by the Fire Department and/or your POC and/or Fire Warden.

During an evacuation, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THE ELEVATORS. Once an alarm has been engaged the fire/life safety system will recall all elevators to the first floor. If there are individuals who need assistance evacuating the building, they should be moved to designated safe rooms on their floor until the Fire Department can evacuate them from the building.

There is a total of four (4) stairwells with two (2) stairwell exits on each floor of the office building and two (2) stairwell exits on each floor of the Fireman’s Fund:

  • Stairwell #1 (office building) exits at the 1st floor next the elevator lobby. Exit out the front doors and proceed to the pre-determined meeting spot, which is at the corner of 7th Street and Indiana Avenue.
  • Stairwell #2 (office building) exits out of the rear of the building by the loading dock. Proceed to the pre-determined meeting spot which is the sidewalk at the corner of 6th Street and D Street.
  • Stairwell #4 (Fireman’s Fund) exits to 7th Street by the front entrance. Proceed to the pre-determined meeting spot which is at the corner of 7th Street and Indiana Avenue.
  • Stairwell #5 (Fireman’s Fund) exits to 7th Street near the Starbucks entrance. Proceed to the pre-determined meeting spot which is at the corner of 7th Street and Indiana Avenue.

Please familiarize yourself with the location of both stairwells, and in an emergency please use the stairwell that is the closest to you.
